The captured and analysed power measurements of busbar's tap-off units, drop cords and end-feeds as well as the power data of switchgears and distribution panels deliver important indicators if power is used and loads are balanced efficiently in the data centre. For this cable-based or wire-free radio monitoring solutions, which can be retrofitted to existing busbar systems and switchgears, are available. They monitor and control the power usage at any distribution level and send alerts in the case of inconsistent, critical or inefficient power supply. Furthermore such monitoring solutions are evaluation tools as well, which help to put a figure on all activities that should lead to better power usage and to create individual KPIs (key perfomance indicators) to assess the relation between energy usage and IT performance in the data centre.
