Purpose

To give the participants the necessary background and methods to develop devices without humidity problems.

Background

Devices exposed to humid environments can cause problems, for example humidity absorbtion, condensation and corrosion. A lot of time and costs can be saved if the humidity aspect is considered early in the development phase. Later on, it is very difficult, or even impossible, to make the necessary modifications without major changes in the original design. The course provides the participants with a basic understanding for the physics related to humidity and failure mechanisms for devices related to humidity. This, together with some simple calculation tools, will make the participants capable of identifying and take into considerations the problems related to humidity during the development phase.
