IFSEC International 2014 Exhibition - HARTING features connectivity solutions for security applications

24-07-2014

20.05.2014 | At the IFSEC International 2014 Exhibition, HARTING is featuring its extensive range of connectors and connectivity systems for security and surveillance applications, including a number of new developments Harting_Ha-VIS_eCon_switch_range HARTING has introduced two new families of unmanaged Ethernet switches that are optimised for use in industrial environments and offer a choice of compact designs for economy and ease of installation. With over 200 different models to choose from, along with a choice of RJ45 or fibre-optic cable ports, the HARTING Ha-VIS eCon 2000 and 3000 unmanaged Ethernet switches enable the cost-effective expansion of existing network infrastructures as well as the development of new industrial security networks. These compact “plug & play” switches can be easily and quickly put into operation. Two different compact, space-saving housing designs designed for “top hat” rail mounting guarantee the best possible use of available space in the switch cabinet. The eCon 3000 family is based on a very narrow form factor with a width of 25 mm which permits high packing density in the control cabinet, helping users to save costs. The eCon 2000 family, on the other hand, has a flat design with a depth of 27 mm which permits greatly reduced installation depth at the point of utilisation. Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows power to be supplied to end devices directly via the Ethernet data cable. PoE+ is a standard for the parallel transfer of energy and data using twisted pair cables. Switches based on the PoE+ standard offer more power for optional end devices. The new eCon ranges include switches with a 54 V supply voltage and models with integrated voltage converters which allow the use of standard 24 V power supplies. Using these switches consequently reduces the cabling effort, while saving time and money. HARTING is also featuring its PushPull industrial connector family: in particular, the Variant 4 version which is ideally suited for providing reliable termination for camera systems in applications such as security surveillance. The new connector is equally suited to industrial environments involving dirt and dust or outdoor applications subjected to heat and cold. Based on an intelligent building-block construction, the HARTING PushPull family offers a multitude of bulkhead-mounted housings, wall bushings, and connectors for a range of system configurations. An important element of this system is the RJ45 connector for 1 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s Ethernet transmission in Cat 6 Class EA systems. This is available as an overmoulded system cable or as a field-installable connector with insulation displacement technology. Options for USB 2.0 (types A and B) and USB 3.0 (type A) are also available, as are optical solutions based on an LC duplex configuration. In addition to the compact design, high data rates and rugged IP 65/67 construction, an essential characteristic of the PushPull series from HARTING is its suitability for simple and swift commissioning in the field, thereby guaranteeing short setup and installation times. Equally suited to use in security systems are outdoor versions of HARTING’s Han-Yellock®, Han-Eco® and M12 connector families. Also new is the Han® HighTemp Series, which enables the reliable transmission of signals and power at temperatures up to 200°C in industrial environments. Also being shown is HARTING’s RFID technology, which offers a high degree of flexibility to simplify the implementation of scalable solutions in different application sectors. The system combines rugged, high-performance RFID readers with powerful data pre-processing to ensure high-speed data transmission and optimum dynamic network performance. An efficient software solution allows the scaling of RFID solutions from individual readers through to enterprise-wide solutions across different locations. As an aid to integration of the RFID transponding functions, all the readers provide UHF technology as a standard feature. Their rugged design and construction allows them to be used in a wide range of environments, including mounting on metal surfaces.
