Location of electrical problems before they turn into serious faults or in extreme cases fire, can help reduce vessel downtime and greatly improve safety.

Thermal imaging cameras are a very useful non invasive tool that can be used to locate such faults and in the right hands can identify problems early and well before they develop into more serious defects.

We provide a full Thermographic Survey service with a clear and easy to read report that provides recommendations for any remedial action that is required.

Owners can then use this report to either take immediate action if the defect is serious or to plan the work for the next convenient opportunity such as a layover, port call, anchorage or refit period.

Particular attention is paid to essential and important equipment, failure of which may present significant safety hazards and all testing is carried out with equipment operating under normal operating conditions.

The photographs above are taken from one of our reports and show the main isolator for No.1 Start Air Compressor, clearly showing that the centre core is significantly hotter that the others. After confirming that the phase current balance was correct, further investigation revealed that the terminal connection on the isolator was loose.
