Non destructive Testing
Non destructive Testing is not just about finding cracks with dye penetrant, it is any test where the component is not destroyed or affected. Because of our forensic background, the scope is huge.
Key Benefits
The part is not affected by the test or examination
The findings will usually allow us to focus on the real problem
The tests are quick.
So, what do we mean by non-destructive testing?
Microscopic examination of close detail, eg fractures
SEM/EDAX analysis to determine the composition of the minutest particle
Jig-saw rebuild of a collection of parts (eg an engine failure, explosion etc)
Fingerprint examination, and chemical 'fingerprints' of contaminants
Document examination using microscopes, ultra-violet, Heasman lights etc.
Of course, the traditional dye penetrant, MPI, ultrasonics and radiagraphy
These techniques take us much further than traditional non destructive testing.
