Reflective Assemblies Electronic
Reflective assemblies are motion or position sensors that can provide noncontact sensing or sense a change in surface reflectance. There are 2 types of reflective assembly, focused and unfocused. Focused assemblies have convex lenses and are best used for sensing specular or polished surfaces, whereas unfocused are for sensing diffuse or rough surfaces and have parallel beams. Reflective optical switches combine an infrared-emitting diode (IRED) with an NPN phototransistor or photodarlington in a one-piece, sealed, IR-transmitting case. Sealed construction improves resistance to moisture and debris.
