Communication between positions and between positions and communications line modules is by dual redundant Ethernet links using standard COTS (Customer Off The Shelf) Ethernet switches and Cat 5/6 cable. The two Ethernet channels are in simultaneous use, so that if one fails there is no interruption of service.
