The Cobus Three Peaks Challenge

25-10-2012

On the 5th October 2012 Cobus Communications Group Director Michael Smith and colleague Philip Huggins took on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Echoes Foundation, The Cobus Foundation’s nominated charity of the year. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge took place in the Yorkshire Dales and included the successful summit of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. The challenge included over 24 miles of walking and over 5,000 feet (1,600m) climbing over a range of tough and testing terrains. The 'Challenge' was to complete the Three Peaks in less than 12-Hours after leaving Hull at 04:30am with a start time of 07:00am. Mike commented “The ‘walk’ was tough and calling it a walk doesn’t really do it justice as 10 hours and 50 minutes in October conditions covering around 26 Miles really needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. The following day I was thinking to myself “that’s ticked that box – never again, on the Sunday I was thinking “I wonder how much time I can knock off next year!” Claire Stockton from the Echoes Foundation added “A big thank you to Cobus for supporting The Echoes Foundation, the money will go a long way to improving a disabled child’s life.” The total raised to date is £1,028.78 and both Mike and Phil extremely proud of raising funds for such a worthy and local cause.
