About Us
Edison was established by 3 partners in the early 80's, to import inexpensive paging from the Far East. The partners were: the retired MD of British Relay (a well known name in nursecall in the 70's); the importer of the paging system to other parts of the world; and the present MD, Bob Johnson, who has worked in the paging and nursecall industry since 1968. The experience from engineering to selling is global, covering western countries from the US to Greece. Although the world has been out of step with the UK in the use of technology for nursecall, the worlds influence is now affecting the UK market and many of the functions of the equipment. Edison personnel have probably more experience than any other UK company in these world specifications.
In 1998, we took over GD Engineering, a well established firm based in Ilford. GD made its own range of hard wired nursecall products, which complemented the other suppliers/types of equipment within the Edison portfolio. The latter now encompasses the spectrum of requirements of the majority of customers. Edison continues to make retro-compatible fittings for the large GD customer base.
Edison has Service Level Agreements with a number of customers to provide for regular service visits; also to give second level technical support from its help desk for Edison supplied equipment and also to give service for third party supplied systems.
Edison has completed an number of major projects for the public sector, competing effectively on price and specification with other large companies in our field. Edison has recently been the preferred supplier for personal attack systems and Nursecall to hospital trusts; also many smaller projects.
Edison is a supplier for Blick (now Stanley Security), Lismore, Scantronic (now Cooper Security) and other new products. We manufacture our own hardwired Nursecall systems to customer specification and tailor our other supplier's products to comply with with customer specifications.
Edison is now registered with Constructionline. Edison is now also registered for WEEE and our producer registration number is WEE/CC1697TW
