We met David in the mid-90s when he was asking for advice on communications when setting up his first office. What he wanted was a reliable, simple-to-use telephone system that could cope with high call volumes. David’s staff were often besieged by callers, and needed to distribute calls at the press of a button to other customer service staff – seamlessly and without delay – as well as offering callers alternatives such as voicemail – again at the press of a key. Otherwise, valuable sales opportunities were being missed. It was vital, too, that Mortgage Shop employees could distinguish client calls from staff calls, and immediately identify calls from the other Mortgage Shop offices that were to be part of David’s future business plan; moreover, staff had to be able to tell whether a caller was responding to a newspaper advertisement, a radio advertisement, or Yellow Pages. The system we supplied to David achieved all his objectives at a stroke – and much more! Cheaper calls, greater profitability David’s business expanded and his single office grew into four; as a consequence, inter-site and customer call volumes increased significantly. As part of our ongoing support, we suggested ways of cutting call costs and line rental charges across the business, thus helping to maximise the company’s profitability. This is an example of how easily we can arrange cheaper calls and lines, and how we keep tariffs under review as part of our regular service monitoring. The call package was specifically tailored to the Mortgage Shop requirements – at Equations, we recognise that all businesses are unique and that one size can never and should never be squeezed or stretched to fit all. Today, David’s business has grown beyond all his expectations. Yet, with his eighth office opening shortly, David still finds that the original phone system we supplied suits him perfectly – all it has needed over the years are simple software upgrades. Equations looks after all David’s Mortgage Shop sites, which are on target to reach fifteen by 2010.
