Surface Mount Electronic Assembly Services

27-07-2012

Surface Mount Electronic Assembly is a method of building electronic circuits where the components are then mounted directly onto the board. The surface mount device or SMB technology has revolutionised the electronics industry by replacing older methods of construction which required the different components to be fitted with wires which were soldered into holes on the circuit board. The electronic surface mount assembly requires no leads and uses small pins, flat contacts or a network of solder balls.

This offers many advantages including:

- Smaller components can be used
- A simpler automated assembly process
- Fewer holes are required to be drilled
- The process allows components to be placed on both sides of the circuit board
- It offers lower resistance and inductance at the connection point. This leads to better performance for higher frequency parts.
- It also offers the ability for faster assembly.

As a leading specialist in Surface Mount Electronic Assembly, On Board SMA Limited are ideally placed to offer a quick and efficient service to our customers. On Board use the latest manufacturing technology including the latest Versatronic Q Placer, to offer a high standard or work.
