Let there be light - New technology illuminates historic church

03-12-2010

Local engineering firm JW Engineering were contracted to design, build and install new railings and restore two original gas lamps for the Camborne parish church. These were taken from the church during the 1940s to be melted down for munitions.

With only one historical photograph of each of the old lamps to work from, they managed to recreate the beautiful lamps that graced the church pre-war.

Originally powered by gas light, they needed to find a modern, low maintenance and environmentally friendly alternative method of illumination.

After approaching OMC, the two companies worked together to make a practical lighting solution using LEDs whilst still maintaining the appearance of traditional gas lamp.

All of the OMC products used in the refurbishment can be found on our website.
