From 1st April 2009 the PSNI Alarm Policy will change
15-07-2012
SYSTEMS WHICH HAVE CURRENTLY LOST "POLICE RESPONSE"
Any alarm system which has currently lost "Police Response" to either the Intruder or Personal Attack element of the system, will have to have the problem resolved by 1st June 2009, or the PSNI will withdraw "Police Response" to the COMPLETE alarm system.
UNCONFIRMED ALARM SYSTEMS
"Unconfirmed" Alarms Systems will, in future, lose their "Police Response" if either the Personal Attack or the Intruder element of the system exceed the false alarm limits set down by the Police. The system will have to be upgraded to "confirmed alarms" within 6 months or police response will be permanently withdrawn from that system. If that happens, then for police response to be restored, the system will have to be upgraded to the latest standards,
CONFIRMED ALARMS
If police response is withdrawn, then the system will have to be either upgraded or be completely free of false alarms fro a continuous period of 3 months and this must be supported by evidence from the alarm company.
If after 6 months the system problems have not been resolved, then police response will be permanently withdrawn. For police response to then be restored, the system will have to upgraded to the latest standards.
CHARGES FOR UNIQUE REFERENCE NUMBERS (URN's)
From 1st April the PNSI are increasing the cost for the issue of a Unique Reference Number (URN) to £47.58 , including VAT @ 15%. This will also be charged in certain cases where police response has been lost and the alarm system is required to be upgraded.
FAILURE OF KEYHOLDERS TO ATTEND
If an alarm activation has been passed to the Police, and the keyholders fail to attend, then police response will be withdrawn for a period of 3 months and will only be re-instated on receipt of an appeal submitted in writing.
