Sherborne Sensors’ speciality lies in the manufacturing of customised electronics sensor products. Whether you require a simple modification to an existing product, or a complete, custom designed sensor system, Sherborne Sensors will enthusiastically embrace your desire to acquire high performance, reliable, and cost effective sensor products that meet your specific application requirements.
Our roots can be traced back easily to 1945, with the formation of Schaevitz Engineering; a USA based manufacturer of LVDTs and other precision sensors. Prompted by their sales success overseas, Schaevitz Engineering began manufacturing inertial products in the UK in 1974. This business model continued until 2002, when a group of former Schaevitz Engineering employees in the UK purchased the inertial products business from the owner at that time and formed Sherborne Sensors Limited, thus continuing the design, development and manufacture of the original Schaevitz® precision sensors, as well as other inertial sensor products. In 2007, Sherborne Sensors extended its product range beyond inertial sensors by obtaining the former Maywood Instruments force transducer product lines and intellectual property. Sherborne Sensors has since extended its operation further, establishing a sales and stocking location in North America in 2009.
As we approach our 40th year of production of Schaevitz® inertial sensor products in the UK, and the 34th of the production of Maywood force products, Sherborne Sensors continues the legacy of cost effectively manufacturing to the highest quality and performance standards in the industry.
