OptoSurf provides a highly sensitive, fast, non-destructive, non-contact method of measuring surface finish at very high speeds..

OptoSurf uses the principle of scattered light reflection from surfaces to deliver an optical roughness characteristic value Aq. In contrast to the usual roughness parameters Ra and Rz, Aq describes surfaces holistically. This has the advantage that profile form and alterations in the structure of the surface are captured as well as the actual roughness value.

Because of its high speed (it can make up to 1,000 separate measurements per second) and its robustness (proof against water spray, vibration and only rarely requires calibration even in a very dusty environment) it is particularly suited to operation at line speed in a continuous production process.
