Birmingham Airport opts for Prodigy Alarm Management System

10-12-2013

Birmingham Airport is the latest in the UK to update its alarm supervisory system with a Prodigy Alarm Management System (PAMS). PAMS is specifically designed to monitor airport ground based systems which range from Air Traffic Control to passenger information systems, UPS and meteorological equipment. The new system offers highly reliable and configurable alarm monitoring to replace traditional manual alarm panels and outdated alarm logging. Alarms are presented on a touch screen representation of the legacy alarm panel making the system very easy to use. The system provides airport Engineering, Maintenance and Air Traffic Control with a cost effective, state of the art solution for alarm management, which provides instant alarm notification and recording of user response for all monitored systems. Designed and developed by Tascomp, PAMS has been installed and proven in a commercial airport environment for over 10 years and is now used at a number of airports across the United Kingdom. The system is being supplied to NATS to a design specification agreed with Birmingham Airport to ensure it meets their specific requirements. NATS logo NATS (formerly National Air Traffic Services Limited) is the main air navigation service provider in the United Kingdom and won the tender for upgrade work at Birmingham Airport, which handles around 9 million passengers a year.
