Scenic Show Fabrication and Lighting

Newcastle's International Centre for Life is a visitor attraction that uses the latest entertainment technology to convey the mysteries of life. Howard Eaton's involvement, in the Big Brain Theatre, was to design, supply, install and commission all of the show lighting and scenic effects. Conceived in conjunction with DHA Design and Event this project married conventional fibre lighting effects with a spectacular 4000 LED effects ceiling and electroluminescent displays to examine the workings of a human brain. The show is fully automated and we developed a custom 8 Universe DMX controller to link the show control AV system with the LED effects lighting. We also manufactured the central stainless steel elliptispherical brain and the hemispherical steel and gauze cortex.
