Unified communications 'can boost healthcare bodies'

06-08-2010

VoIP phones and other unified communications tools could boost the operations of a number of firms in the healthcare sector, it has been claimed.

According to an article jointly prepared for UCStrategies.com by experts including Don Van Doren and Marty Parker, the solutions could ensure that organisations enjoy "numerous breakthroughs" when it comes to operational efficiency.

The experts explained that such technology ensures that employees have access to the right tools which can help to cut delays and errors.

"Further, these unified communications tools can be incorporated directly into the EHR system interfaces so the communications tasks are directly accessible within the treatment management environment," they outlined.

"A nurse need not reach for the telephone to communicate."

In a recently column for No Jitter, Frost & Sullivan analyst Melanie Turek suggested that many organisations are increasingly interested in leveraging the benefits of video conferencing as part of their unified communications set-up.
